Children's Programs

Education Programs for children are one of the ways San Francisco Airport Museums is able to enrich the visitor experience. Learning opportunities are offered through curricula designed for specific grade levels that relate to California Department of Education Content Standards. For more about these fun learning activities and additional class tour opportunities, see our Education page.

Kids' Spot II, interactive exhibitions from San Francisco's Exploratorium, can be found in North Terminal near Gate 87a.

"Under Water Planet: Learning About the Fishes of the World" is the Airport's new educational aquarium exhibition located in the lobby area of Boarding Area C. This exhibition is a collaboration between the San Francisco Airport Commission and the Steinhart Aquarium at the California Academy of Sciences. The aquarium features three aquatic communities: The Coral Reef, Lake Malawi, and The Amazon. For centuries, the world of water and its inhabitants have fascinated land dwellers. Much like the aerodynamics of birds in flight, the hydrodynamics of fishes moving through their environment have sparked the human imagination. "Under Water Planet" provides a moment of tranquillity while teaching about aquatic communities and their relationship to the global environment.

Children's Art San Francisco Airport Museums has presented an ongoing exhibition of children's art at the San Francisco International Airport since 1980. The two gallery spaces are located at Baggage Claim level of Terminal One, Concourse A and Concourse C.

Children's art fosters and promotes interaction between the diverse communities in the Bay Area and the San Francisco International Airport. Bay Area schools and nonprofit organizations are welcome to exhibit artwork. This program provides youth organizations that have a children's art program the opportunity to exhibit two-dimensional art on paper.
